Martin Jacques: Understanding the rise of China

I can’t believe how fast 2011 has taken its way.  January is almost over!  Where did the time go?

Through a social network at work called Yammer, I discovered an awesome website called TED.com. I’ve also kept this website under the Social section in my Resource Center because it’s a website worth checking out often. Martin Jacques, the author of “When China Rules the World”, did a remarkable talk on Understanding the rise of China.  It was very educational to me.  I was captivated by the things Martin talked about such as the unity of Chinese minds, the disrespecting result of Han dynasty, the strong Chinese economy, the giant boat, the Chinese invention of the game of golf in the 1300s, etc.  It felt like a past, present and future presentation on China.  I also love the way he ended his speech with “welcome to the future”!  What an excellent speaker Martin is.

TED.com has a ton of videos on great speakers.  Sir Ken Robinson also has an exceptional piece on Education.

Looking ahead to February…  It doesn’t look good, but I know I need to have a positive mindset to battle with deadlines.  Here we go February.  Let the learning begin!
